Impressed by Prestonfield!

Prestonfield House Hotel really does press all of the right buttons. First of all – just look at it. From the moment your wheels roll onto the driveway you cannot help but slow slightly to take it all in. The grounds are magical, luminously green, and even the trees seem strangely fairytale-like in their enormity.

Everything is superbly well kept. As you get out of your car, subconsciously noting the high caliber of your 'car neighbours', you feel as if twenty gardeners have just finished for the day, dusting their hands happy in the perfection that they have left behind.

There are peacocks. Actual peacocks, just wondering around on its vast country-like landscape. And you are literally only 10 minutes from the centre of town. It’s fantastic.

The house itself is very beautiful, and further enhanced by the opulent interior, stacks of fresh flowers and the friendly and professional team, who just so happen to be adorned in kilts. I enjoy the quiet embrace of its Scottish heritage, it's not overt, but it is noticeable, and it's nice.

In terms of the event facilities available to you and the events that you could create there, the possiblities are endless. I have designed a number of events in the humungous Stables over the years. It is a theatrical venue perfect for dinner dances, fashion events, gala dinners, awards etc. It reminds me of a classy circus tent meshed with a historic theatre.

There are also gorgeous spaces to discover within the house that can also be utilised for private events. These various venues include the beautiful Tapestry Room, The Garden Room, The Whisky Room and The Yellow Room, all unique and special in their own ways. The renowned restaurant Rhubarb is situated in the heart of the house and is made up of two dramatic spaces. It is also available for private hire for the right events, but their availability can be sparse due to popularity.

Prestonfield House Hotel is quirky and unstuffy, yet grand, stylish and historic - dating back to 1687. When you walk around you can’t help but lift your chin, drop your shoulders and smile. It has a very special atmosphere about it, a mystical buzz that makes it feel famous. Probably because it is.
