Gilly's take on Shannon

Shannon is a switched on, self motivated, fast thinking and positive member of the YOURgb team. Her event experience began in brand experiential work with Benefit, where she was able to create successful sales objective driven activations for the brand. Having lived and worked in France and North Carolina she has excellent international experience that this fuels her love of our overseas work.

Along with being fluent in French, Shannon is an excellent copy writer with a keen interest in social media strategy and implementation. She is also a true team player, with the ambition and drive to take the lead in the events that she works on. On-site you will notice her calm and happy approach, can do attitude, attention to detail and unwavering focus on client care.

Shannon always sets the bar high, and reaches every objective set.

Shannon, why event management?

Event management allows me to combine my passion for creativity with my great organisational skills. I love making connections with people, which is a great characteristic in such a people-facing industry. I am at my happiest working in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment, so events management is a great fit for me.

What's it like working with you?

I pride myself on being wholeheartedly a team player; I always try to be a great listener and a good shoulder to lean on. I have a very upbeat energy, I don’t take myself too seriously, and I’m never afraid to jump into things head first.

Where have you come from?

I was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and I have recently finished my four-year MA degree in French and English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. I have always made time to pursue my interest in events around my degree, and have experience coordinating programmes for young people in North America and working events within the beauty industry in Edinburgh. Since I moved to Edinburgh in 2014, I have fallen in love with the city and life here, and I am so excited to start my career in a city that I am so passionate about.

When you're not managing events?

Having lived and worked in France and North Carolina, I have definitely caught the travel bug, so I am often planning my next mini adventure. On the other hand, I am a self-confessed granny at heart so a lot of the time I am happiest when snuggled up with a blanket, lots of tea, and some good Netflix.
